5 automotive and insurance industry professionals are undertaking a charity bike ride from Oxford to A Coruña, Spain. Riding a total of 1185 miles in order to raise money for mental health charities, Mind and Young Mind.
The group named Tour De Mind, will head off on their challenging cycle on 26th August 2023. It will take the group 10 days to cycle the length of France and across the North of Spain, to the finish line at the GT Motive head quarters in La Coruna, Spain.
The group of riders will include, Martyn Rowley and Pablo Liñares of GT Motive, Victoria Turner from Activate Accident Repair, Les Bickerstaffe of HB Accident Repair Network Limited and Mark Stuart of MotoFix Accident Repair Centres.
“In 2022 one of our industry colleagues and good friend was personally affected by suicide.” Says Martyn Rowley of the Tour De Mind team “So, we decided that in order to support our colleague and their family, we would create this group of industry professionals and we would take on this crazy challenge and cycle all the way to Spain to raise munch needed funds for mental health charities that provide support to those experiencing mental health problems.”
The 5 riders are raising money for Mind, who aim to make mental health an everyday priority and fight to ensure those with mental health problem gets both support and respect. They will also be riding in aid of YoungMinds who campaign to see a world where no young person feels alone with their mental health.
1 in 4 people have mental health problems, and in 2021 there were 5,583 suicides registered in England and Wales, which is 6.9% higher than in 2020. The riders have begun training for the 1185 mile cycle and are hoping to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charities via their Just Giving page – https://www.justgiving.com/team/tour-de-mind.
